Fimo, then and now. A new start.

It was around... uh! 2002, when my best friend, whom I shared high school with, introduced me to this "new" clay, that doesn't harden in the air, but goes in an oven: my first encounter with Fimo!

To be honest, I didn't have much faith in it, coming from my past experience with other types of clay, where my expectations would never come to meet with reality.
Whatever I had in my mind would never translate into what my hands were trying to do, so I was always left with these works that ehm... As full of love and effort as they were, sadly were just below average XD
Still, I never lost hope and gave it a go (also, I just enjoyed the fun of trying anyway, which I think is still the main ingredient in everything we do).

My early ceations weren't great, I still remember my very first attempts at a cake and a watermelon: messy and unproportioned, but so much fun to make: it was love.
I kept finding new colours, new techniques, new tools and confidence in me and polymer clay.

First cakes were a bit wonky, but still satisfying!

I started making small gifts for family and friends, I've made a small blog to share my hobby with the world, I even started venturing to craft markets... In the years, I can really say Fimo helped me reach so many people and helped me grow and go out of my comfort zone, step by step.

And today I'm here, sharing all this in a new blog, starting from zero again, with uncertainty on views I may or may not get, on my commitment to it, on my mistakes in a language that's not mine and I hope to not butcher too much; out of my comfort zone again.
But that's alright. It'll do me good!

Still space to get better, but cakes now are a bit different!

And so, here we go, ready for this new adventure!
If you're starting your adventure with Fimo too, before the clay, before anything else, remember that you are the main tool you need: don't give up, keep trying, make a treasure of your first wonky creations and don't compare yourself to others; you are you, with your own unique style!
